Description

This Comedy workshop class is designed to provide the students of theatre with an overview of comedy including its various theatrical styles and respective acting techniques. Comedic genres covered include: farce, modern comedy, high comedy, slapstick, satire, and melodrama.
Upon completion of this course, students will have experience in: 1. The “rules” of comedy and 2. The difference between the different genres of comedy & their respective acting techniques.
This class will be a fun and exciting way to learn and develop the art of comedy as it relates to stage performance and characterization.

Thomas Gandy

Thomas comes to CYT with over 40 years of theater, music and acting experience. He started at age 5 and continued through his childhood performing on stage in plays, choir, bands and musical theater. Thomas has also worked in professional technical theater on lighting and sound crews as well sets and props. Thomas has also directed theatrical productions both locally and in other states. He was most recently as King Arthur in Aspire's production of Spamalot and Albert in CCT's production of Bye Bye Birdie. He is looking forward to his first time teaching with CYT and helping young people develop their God-given gifts.
